Between seeing and feeling.

Photography

My work moves between observation and intervention. Some images remain as I found them — reflections, gestures, and fragments of the street that speak for themselves. Others I revisit with embroidery, transforming the photograph into a tactile surface where image and thread meet. Together, these approaches explore perception, memory, and the quiet tension between what is seen and what is felt.

About me

Denisse Dounce

I was born in Mexico City and now live in Weil am Rhein, Germany. I’m a photographer and visual artist whose work is guided by curiosity, memory, and a deep need to tell stories through light. I’m fascinated by reflections, fleeting moments, and subtle details that reveal poetry within the everyday.

Since 2020, I’ve been combining photography with embroidery and weaving, creating tactile pieces that explore the dialogue between image, material, and emotion. After a personal loss, my practice became a space for healing and transformation — a way to turn absence into creation.

I’ve lived and worked in Mexico, Spain, Switzerland, and the Netherlands, and have exhibited in Monterrey, Barcelona, and Basel. Through my work, I seek to capture the beauty of the ephemeral and the quiet strength of what often goes unseen.
